I use Canva with a non-UCT email address. Can I still use this account?

Yes. Personal Canva accounts linked to non-UCT email addresses remain separate from your UCT Canva account. You can switch between accounts when needed.

Who can access UCT’s Canva for Campus subscription?

All current UCT staff and students can access Canva for Campus using their UCT credentials at no cost.

I already use Canva with my UCT email address.  What happens to my existing content?

Your existing designs, folders, and projects will remain available in the workspace where they were originally created.

If you would like to use them within the UCT Canva environment, you can move designs across over time.

What happens if I have a paid Canva subscription linked to my UCT email address?

If you qualify for Canva for Campus through UCT, you no longer need a paid Canva subscription linked to your UCT email address. Please contact Canva Support to inform them that your paid account has moved into UCT’s new Canva enterprise agreement. They can assist with subscription adjustments or possible reimbursement, depending on your plan.

Will I automatically be added to the UCT Canva environment?

Yes. If you qualify for access to UCT’s subscription, when you sign in using your UCT email address, you will be placed in the UCT Canva environment, which is the main workspace for university-related work.

Can I still access other teams I already use?

Yes. Any existing teams linked to your UCT email address will remain available, and you can continue to switch between them.

How will UCT branding be managed in Canva?

UCT branding will be supported through centrally-managed brand kits and shared templates within the UCT Canva environment. This will help to ensure consistent application of visual identity across departments, units, and communications outputs.

Who can see my Canva designs?

Your designs remain private unless you choose to share them. You control who can view, comment on, or edit your work.

Other UCT users cannot access your designs unless you share them with specific people or groups, or save them in a shared team space or folder.

What happens when I share content within a team?

Depending on the permissions you assign, anyone with access to that team or shared folder can view or work on the content.

Will UCT be able to see my Canva designs?

Canva operates within a managed organisational environment. You control the designs you create, and they remain private unless you choose to share them.

Access to content depends on how it is shared and the permissions you assign. In shared team spaces or folders, others with access to those spaces can view or work on content.

Can I use Canva to create content that includes sensitive or restricted information?

Please exercise caution when working with sensitive or restricted information and follow UCT policies and guidelines.

Does Canva include AI features?

Yes. Canva includes AI-powered tools such as image generation, text suggestions, and design assistance.

Will AI features be enabled for all users?

Yes. Canva includes AI-powered tools such as image generation, text suggestions, and design assistance. Access to specific AI features may be managed at a user, team, or institutional level in line with UCT policies.

Is there a limit on how much content I can store in Canva for Campus?

Yes. Each user has access to up to 1 TB of storage within Canva for Campus, providing sufficient space to create and manage your designs and content.

What happens to my Canva access and content when I leave UCT

When you leave the university, you lose access to the UCT Canva environment. You will no longer be able to access any designs, folders, or resources stored in your UCT account.

If you need to keep the content, download or transfer the content before your access ends. You can download your designs or share them with another account, such as a personal Canva account.
