How much does it cost to attend a course?
ICTS only charges external parties a nominal fee to cover some of the costs of running the training lab. The course fees are listed in SuccessFactors in the course description. Alternatively, contact the ICTS Training Manager for more information on course availability and costs.
Do I have to pay a training fee if I am a UCT student or staff member?
UCT staff and students can attend training for free. A penalty fee will, however, apply for no-shows and late cancellations. Please ensure that you provide your staff or student number when you book.
Do you send booking confirmations?
You will receive a confirmation email shortly after you have submitted your online application form. You will receive final confirmation and logistical details a week before the commencement of the selected course. We recommend that you add this to your own Outlook calendar.
When booking via SuccessFactors, you will receive an automated email indicating your booking status (i.e. enrolled, or pending if course attendance requires manager approval). Once your booking has been approved you will receive an Outlook calendar invite.
What if I book for a course that is oversubscribed?
First check to see if the course is shown as fully booked, if not proceed to book a place on the course.
If a course is fully subscribed you will be offered a place on the waiting list in the event of a cancellation. SuccessFactors allows you to be added to a waiting list. You will be notified during the week prior to the commencement of the course whether there are any cancellations.
What should I do if I am unable to attend a course that I booked on SuccessFactors?
Withdraw a booking by navigating to Learning Assignments and in the Learning section click Withdraw. Please note that some courses require manager approval to be withdrawn. Late cancellation and no-show rules also still apply.
Is there a possibility that a course can be cancelled or postponed?
ICTS reserves the right to cancel or postpone courses should the need arise, e.g. where there is an insufficient number of registrations. We will attempt to contact you, in order to book you onto the next available course.
Can you customise some training for my department?
ICTS offers onsite seminars and customised courses in response to the specific training needs of a department. The venue and facilities must be provided by the department that requested the training. Please contact the ICTS Training Manager (021 650 5392) for more information.
What are the course times?
Courses are offered as half-day training sessions either in-person or virtually via Microsoft Teams. The course information in SuccessFactors will indicate if it is in-person or online training.
Where are the ICTS training venues located?
- All ICTS-run courses and seminars are held in the ICTS Training Room 1, in Room 102.1, Level 1, in the Wilfred and Jules Kramer Law building, Middle Campus.
- The Technical writing courses are held either in the Training Lab, Cambria House, Middle Campus, or in Training Room 2, Room 102, Level 1, Wilfred and Jules Kramer Law building, Middle campus.
Is there parking at the venue?
Parking is available on middle campus. Visitors can purchase temporary parking discs from the Visitors' Reception and Information Office.
Yellow bay disc holders may park in any yellow bay on campus. Illegal parking can result in your car being ticketed or clamped.
Are refreshments provided?
You will need to cater for your own lunch, but coffee, tea, and water is provided. There are a number of eating facilities available in close proximity to the training lab.
Can I hire an ICTS training lab for my own course or event?
UCT staff members may hire the labs when no scheduled training is taking place. For prices, booking information and terms and conditions, see Hiring of the ICTS training labs.
