When you applied to study at UCT, you received a UCT application letter which included your UCT username (e.g. ABCDEF001) and a default password. Please note that this password is a temporary one, and you will need to change it as soon as possible.
Note:
If you cannot find this letter, please email the IT Helpdesk for assistance. Include a certified copy of your ID or passport. The certification should have been done within the last six months.
Set up your new password to avoid delays on campus
When you arrive on campus, you'll need to do various things that require internet access. To ensure that you can get onto UCT's WiFi service immediately (and therefore avoid using your mobile data), please follow these steps– before you arrive on campus. You can do this from home or any other location where you have internet access.
- Navigate to UCT’s Password Self-Service site.
- Log in using the UCT username and password you received via email.
- Read the privacy statement and if you agree, select I Agree and click Continue.
- On the contact information page, enter your mobile number and alternate email address, then click Update.
- Either Confirm the update or Go Back and enter different information.
- When you’re done, select Change Password.
- Enter a new password in both fields, ensuring that the new password complies with UCT password regulations.
- When you’re happy with your password, click Change Password.
- Click Logout.
