In preparation for the campus-wide rollout, the pilot phase of Windows 11 begin with deployment on all compatible ICTS staff computers through Windows Server Update Services (WSUS).
What does this mean for me?
If you are an ICTS staff member, Windows 11 will be deployed to your UCT-owned computer from 20 November 2024.
If you use your personally-owned computer for UCT work, UCT business systems, or connecting to the UCT network, please do not install Windows 11 until we confirm your upgrade date.

Check if your machine is compatible with Windows 11
Verify if your machine is eligible to be upgraded to Windows 11 by viewing your machine details on the Windows 11 compatibility website. You must be connected to the UCT network to conduct the test. So, if you’re working remotely, first connect to the UCT VPN and then access the site.
Enter your computer name using the instructions provided on the website, and then complete the online form.
- If your machine is not eligible, log a call with the IT Helpdesk using the displayed link on the website for further advice.
- If your machine is not listed after entering your details, download the compatibility-checking application, which will appear on the Windows 11 compatibility website.
- If your machine is eligible, the Windows 11 upgrade will appear as a standard system update from 20 November 2024.
Before you start the installation:
- Make sure that all your data is backed up before the deployment date.
- Check that your computer is plugged in or has sufficient battery power during the process.
