As part of our ongoing efforts to maintain a secure and trusted network environment, ICTS will make a change to the authentication certificates for our connectivity services. As a result, you will need to take action on 27th July 2026 (or the next time you're on campus thereafter).

What do I need to do?

Please note that you need to follow these steps only if you use eduroam on campus or connect to the UCT network via cable on campus.

  1. On or after 27th July 2026, when you connect to the UCT network – either wirelessly (via eduroam) or via network cable – your computer / device may prompt you to trust a new certificate.
  2. Check that the certificate is named nac.uct.ac.za.
  3. If so, select the appropriate option to trust the new certificate. The option will be worded differently, depending on your operating system. For example:
    • Connect
    • Continue
    • Trust
    • Accept
  4. You may now use your device / computer as normal.

Need help?

After following these steps, if you still have issues connecting, please follow these steps:
