ICTS engineers have continued to investigate the issue affecting some users’ connectivity to the eduroam wireless network. While the issue was initially seen on certain Android devices, we have identified that some Apple devices may be affected too.

In most cases, this issue is experienced on devices that have not yet received the latest operating systems from their manufacturer. These updates often include the latest trusted Certificate Authority (CA) certificates required to validate UCT’s new authentication certificate.

Check that your device’s operating system is updated

Please ensure that your device has the latest updates installed (including those released during July 2026).

  • If updating your device resolves the issue, then no further action is required.
  • If your device is up to date but still cannot connect to eduroam, then please follow the resolution steps below.
  • If your device can no longer receive updates from your manufacturer, then please follow the resolution instructions below.

Follow these steps to resolve the problem

You will need to use an alternative internet connection (i.e., mobile data or another secure WiFi network) to download the updated eduroam configuration.
