This August and September, ICTS Training and Optinum are hosting 3 exciting events for both staff and students at UCT.

Staff:

Students:

MATLAB – the language of technical computing – is a programming environment for algorithm development, data analysis, visualisation, and numeric computation. Simulink is a graphical environment for simulation and Model-Based Design of multidomain dynamic and embedded systems.

Together, MATLAB and Simulink form the basis of a powerful package designed to enhance and enable research in fields such as engineering, science, and economics.

Enhance your employability with computational thinking

In this seminar, hosted by ICTS and Optinum, Jon Esteves will speak to the future of industry and the skills you need to survive and thrive in the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR). This session will help prepare you to brave the 4IR waters and set you on the path to success with the MATLAB and Simulink tools. Jon is a Solution Engineering Consultant who focuses on bridging the gap between the academic and commercial spaces. He has an M.Sc. in Computational and Applied Mathematics from the University of the Witwatersrand. His passion lies in automation and process optimisation through Mathematical Modelling and numerical simulation.

Date: Monday 22 August 2022

Time: 13:00 p.m. – 14:00 p.m.

Presenter: Jon Esteves

Harness the power of MATLAB and Simulink for teaching, learning, and research

In this seminar, we will guide you through the MathWorks family of tools applied in academia. In leveraging tools like MATLAB Live Scripts, Simulink, MATLAB Grader, and the Online Training Suite, we will demonstrate the power that computation can bring to teaching.

The following training session is now available to add to your calendar:

MATLAB & Simulink for Teaching & Research

Date: 16 September 2022

Time: 10:00 a.m.  - 11:00 a.m.

Venue: PD Hahn LT 1, Upper Campus
