Researchers and other members of the UCT community often undertake in-depth data analysis. If the datasets they need are very large in size or are based in other countries, downloads can be slow and can strain UCT’s international bandwidth.

To address this issue, UCT’s Internet bandwidth supplier, TENET, developed a mirror service. Instead of downloading large datasets and open source applications directly from international sources, you can instead get them instead from a local mirror site maintained by TENET.

This saves international bandwidth and makes downloads much quicker.

The mirror site is updated regularly, ensuring that data is kept up to date.
