Who can purchase Microsoft Teams Premium?
This add-on is available to all staff on an annual subscription basis. There is an associated cost of about R550 per user, per annum. Your HOD will need to approve the request before a licence is purchased.
Does Microsoft Teams Premium's intelligent recap functionality apply to all meetings?
Microsoft Teams Premium’s intelligent recap functionality only works for recorded meetings.
Will meeting attendees see Microsoft Teams Premium features if the meeting organiser uses these features?
Microsoft Teams Premium is only available to meeting attendees who have purchased the licence.
Will Microsoft Teams Premium features appear on recorded meetings attended before purchasing the licence?
You will only start seeing Microsoft Teams Premium functionality from the time the licence is allocated to you. Once the licence expires, you will no longer be able to use the intelligent recap features.
If there are restrictions in place for the meeting recording, will this impact Microsoft Teams Premium?
The features will still be visible even if there are restrictions to view only.
Can Microsoft Teams Premium be used for minute taking?
This functionality provides a summary of the meeting notes, proposed tasks and actions required. Manual intervention is still required to create minutes.
Why shouldn’t I use third party applications for minute taking?
There are several security concerns regarding
- who has access to the meeting data
- where this information is stored
- how this information is processed
It is also important to note that while AI tools can assist with generating minutes, these must still always be checked to ensure accuracy.
ICTS is still in the process of investigating a suitable application for minute taking. We therefore recommend using Microsoft Teams Premium since it can assist with generating minutes, offers similar functionality to many other third party applications, and most importantly, is also a more secure option because we know where the data is stored.
