Bytes have deployed several devices across campus in document centres, departments, labs, residences and print rooms for all printing needs from normal desktop printing to bulk and secure printing.

Mobile Printing Setup Specifications

Printing setup on a Windows Device

  • Mobility Print only supports Microsoft Windows 7 and above
    1. Download the mobility print installer.
    2. Open the downloaded installer in the web browser.
    3. Select run, preferred language and agree to terms and conditions.
    4. Select your preferred printers for use on mobile printing.
    5. Enter Papercut username and password.
      NB: Remember to select a printer when printing via this feature.

Printing setup on a Mac Device

  • Mobility Print only supports MacOS Yosemite and above 
    1. Ensure your Mac device is connected to the UCT network.
    2. Navigate to System Settings > Printers and Scanners (this is called System Preferences > Printers and Scanners on older versions of macOS).
    3. Under Printer & Scanners | Printers, ensure the following UCT print queues are available:
      • UCT_Mobile_Follow
      • UCT_Mobile_Follow_BW

        If the above print queues are not listed, Click the Add Printer, Scanner or Fax... button under the Printers list. (This is a + icon on older versions of macOS.)
    4. The Add Printer dialogue is displayed. A list of all the uct mobile discovered printers on the network will be displayed.
    5. Select a UCT Printer. The Name, Location and Use will be displayed.
    6. Verify that Use is set to Secure AirPrint.
      • If Secure AirPrint is not displayed, close the Add dialogue box.
      • Disconnect from the network, then reconnect.
      • Verify if you can see Secure AirPrint. If not, contact the system administrator.
    7. Click Add.
    8. Two print queues will be available:
      • UCT_Mobile_Follow
      • UCT_Mobile_Follow_BW
    9. Print your document. When prompted, enter your UCT username and password then select OK.
      • Username: your UCT staff or student number
      • Password: your UCT network password
      • Ensure that Remember this password in my keychain is selected.

Printing setup on an iPhone/ iPad

  • Mobility Print only supports iOS  9.2 and above
    1. Ensure your iPhone/iPad device is connected to the UCT wireless network.
    2. Select the preferred document, then select Print. AirPrint will find the nearest printer on the network.
    3. Print your document. When prompted, enter your UCT username and password then select OK.
      • Username: your UCT staff or student number
      • Password: your UCT network password
      • Ensure that Remember this password in my keychain is selected.

        Note: Not all apps support AirPrint. If you can't find the print option, check the app's help or user guide.

Printing setup on an Android device

  • Mobility Print only supports Android 4.4 and above on Google, Samsung, HTC phones and tablets
    1. Ensure the Andriod device is connected to the UCT wireless network.
    2. Install the Mobility Print app from the Google Play Store.
    3. Click the 
        icon under the Printer list.    
    4. Launch the App.
    5. Tap Android settings > Mobility Print > Enable toggle.
    6. Exit Android Settings.
    7. Printing is now enabled. Enter Papercut username and password when prompted,

Printing setup on a Chromebook

  • Mobility Print only supports Chrome OS with Chrome version 43 and above for Chrome Apps and version 53 and above for Android Apps
    1. Ensure the device is connected to the UCT wireless network.
    2. Install the Mobility Print Chrome app.  
    3. If printing from an Android application such as Microsoft Word:
    4. Printing differs depending on the app used. More information can be retrieved from the documentation on the app itself.
      (Example: Printing from Microsoft Word press Ctrl+P > select a printer > click Print.
    5. When selecting a printer to print from ensure it is a mobility print printer identified by the Papercut icon

    6. Enter Papercut username and password when prompted.

All Xerox Devices are managed and maintained under a central managed solution, UCT Managed Print Services.
